Because I do not think I am one...

Here on FoodTribe you see the word 'foodie' used a lot. What I want to know is: what is your definition of a foodie?

I do not think I am a foodie. So I am curious if I fit any of your definitions.

In the comments, tell me your definition of a foodie and let me know if you think you are a foodie.

I hope you all had a fun and relaxing weekend. I love you all!

  • To me a foodie is someone who is passionate about food. Someone who loves to try knew foods, new food experiences. I consider myself a foodie. I like to not just eat a meal because I’m hungry, but because I think food can have an expression. It can take you to new countries by experiencing their type of foods. I get excited to try things I have never eaten before, even if it sounds out of the ordinary. That’s what a foodie means to me anyway. πŸ˜€

    • I do like your idea of a foodie. By your definition I might be. I like trying new things. I don't know about the passionate part. The only thing might be my burgers and steaks. πŸ€”

    • You are passionate about some foods. Looks at your burgers.... you come up with new ideas and love to try new things when it comes to that and sandwiches. I think you are indeed a foodie. πŸ˜‰

  • I used to consider a foodie as someone who not just had level of interest in food that makes it a hobby, but also a high level of knowledge on the subject of food.

Now, I consider a foodie a hobbyist with a deep appreciation. The knowledge isn't neccessary, just the appreciation and excitement for food. I myself am trying to develop that knowledge!

Based on what I've read that you've written Doug, you're a foodie!

    • I agree with your idea of a foodie. I do appreciate good food over "just food" I appreciate that you think I am. It makes me wonder even more now. πŸ€”πŸ˜€

    • As a fellow foodie, these days sometimes I appreciate the "just food" as much as the fancy stuff. The meat and potatoes dishes. The "burger your mom made"! Instant mac & cheese. 😁

  • I think of a foodie as a person who has an extensive knowledge of food as well as cooking, and also someone who is open to any and all foods/always wanting to learn. Their life revolves around it

    • Yup that definitely is not me. A nice definition.

  • Okay... I can understand why "passion" is a part of most peoples' definition of being a Foodie - but personally, I don't think it should be. A foodie has to be a person who does anything and everything to make each meal as near perfect as possible. A person who cooks on the fly, who is willing to experiment with tastes and try anything - even if it's just once! A person when faced with lack of the "correct" ingredient can come up with alternatives to make the recipe soar. Sure, you can be passionate about it, but it isn't, in my book, a requirement. excellent choice of subject matter here! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

    • Thank you my friend. I agree with you. Though I don't really fit your description either.
