Advantages and Disadvantages of Wheatgrass Juice

Wheatgrass Juice is the fresh juice prepared juice from the wheatgrass plant; however; it also comes in the powdered form. Many people in India grow wheatgrass plants in their homes and make their juice by crushing the leaves of wheatgrass. This juice has high nutritional value, and it has a variety of vitamins like A, C, E, and B6.

A few days ago, my father bought a carton full of bottles of wheatgrass juice and he asked me to have a sip. Initially, I was shilly-shallying to drink it, but when I had my first sip, I found it to be delicious and I started drinking 2-3 bottles a day. Hence I decided to share the advantages of drinking this juice with you.

Advantages of wheatgrass juice

It can be considered a superfood that provides us with a fusion of nutrients. It has antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It includes iron, calcium, magnesium and many other phytonutrients.

It can help to eliminate all the toxins from the body by providing support to the kidney and liver. It even offers a helping hand in the process of digestion. It helps in the breakdown of food and absorb all the nutrients from it.

The wheatgrass juice detoxes your body and prevents your body from getting constipated and indigestion.

If you want to reduce your weight, it can help you to reduce your weight by boosting your metabolism. It is also known for its property of lowering cholesterol level, which can ultimately reduce the prospect of heart diseases.

It helps in the purification of blood. It is also responsible to increase the blood cell count.

It is very much beneficial to diabetic patients as it acts similar to insulin. It also lowers the glycemic index of foods which has a severe impact on blood sugar.

In 2015 a series of studies found that Wheatgrass contains the cancer-killing cell. Alongside the cancer treatment, it can be consumed to detox the body and nurture the immune system. According to a study conducted in 2007, people who have breast cancer should drink wheatgrass juice during their treatment to nurture their immune system and to detox their bodies.

Disadvantages of wheatgrass juice

Excess consumption has side effects. In this case, it may cause side effects such as headache, upset stomach, fever, etc.

However, these symptoms usually vanish after a week or two, and your body digest wheatgrass juice easily. However, it may affect you if you are suffering from a blood disorder, celiac diseases, and gluten intolerance.
