What to do with leftover buns

Do to bread shortage I had to buy buns a couple of times and now that I'm tired of sandwiches I don't want this to go to waste. So I cubed it up, let it dry up some, put it in a bag and tossed it into the freezer. This can either be used for dressing, French toast bake, croutons and I'm sure a few other things as well. Hopefully this will help you out if you are about to have to throw bread away.

  • If I have some stale bun or bread I use them to meatballs which I usually do. I put stale bun to water or milk then it absorb the liquid, squeeze it and add to meat or every now and then I make zapiekanki on such stuff 🤔

  • If you've got enough, then bread and butter pudding is also another great way of using up old bread, buns or anything of that sort.

  • Thanks for the tip, croutons sound great. Only yesterday I whizzed up the end of a stale loaf with some parmesan in the food processor to top a pasta bake. I'll always keep a bit of old bread in the freezer from now on.

  • Great tip! I too have a few buns leftover. I’ve done the crouton thing, but never thought about using it for a French toast bake. Love it!

  • The trouble is, I generally find the leftover buns when they're spread with a fascinating shade of turquoise, and go AHHH YES THOSE BUNS
