Pastel de choclo Chileno and pebre... as a burger

The World Burger Tour 2020 is happening. I'll be turning your suggestions from around the world into burgers. This week, it's a trip to Chile, turning Pastel de choclo Chileno and pebre... into a burger.

'Pastel de choclo Chileno and pebre' is a Chilean corn pie and salsa. I decided to make this burger slider style.

For the burger itself, I mixed together ground beef, onion, raisins, black olives, beef bouillon, garlic, cumin, oregano, paprika, and salt.

For the buns I decided to use corn bread mixed with a little cream corn. I made the salsa according to Fulana DeTal's recipe (found at the bottom of the page in the link), but I added a little salt.

After the burger was grilled, and the buns baked, it was time to build.

On the lower bun goes some cream corn. Put the burger on top with a thick slice of boiled egg and a scoop of that wonderful salsa. Then, I put more cream corn on the top bun.

I had a side bowl of the salsa so I could add some more as I ate.

The burger was great, but the corn bread did not want to stay together. You get a nice sweetness from the raisins in the burger, and the salsa added a lovely crisp texture along with bags of flavor, but I didn't enjoy the addition of the olives – personal preference. Overall, it was so good I ate two.

Fulana DeTal, do you think I successfully made your dish into a burger? FoodTribe, what do you think of this recent creation? Tell me in the comments.

The World Burger tour is off to the next location... stay tuned.

  • By the way, I appreciate that you stick to the recipe and added the olives even if you don't care for them. Thank you !!!

  • Would a slice of cheese on the burger and a drizzle of hot sauce be ok additions? Then it would be practically perfect imo 😂 another great job! I wonder where your tour will take us next?
