World Burger Tour 2020 goes to... Vietnam

The World Burger tour is on the move again. I will be turning your suggestions from around the world into burgers. This week we travel to Vietnam, turning banh mi into a burger.

The banh mi is one of the most well known sandwiches in the world. It is known for its wonderful, refreshing flavors and is an absolute must if you ever visit Vietnam. I hope I can do it justice by turning it into a burger. I want to thank our friend Jane Fyffe for this suggestion.

We start off with a ground pork patty seasoned with garlic, fish sauce and hoisin sauce. I pickled some carrots, onions, radish and jalapeños in some rice vinegar and salt.

It's time to assemble. After toasting the French roll, add a little Japanese mayo and a little sriracha to the bottom bun. On top of that, add the ground pork patty and those oh-so-good pickled veggies. To that, I added some fresh cilantro as well. The top bun gets a thin layer of Japanese mayo and sriracha as well.

To be honest FoodTribe, after taking the first bite I think my eyes rolled to the back of my head and my leg began to shake it was so good. There is so much flavor happening here I could spend all day writing about it. The texture of this burger was fantastic: a little crunch from that toasted French roll with the juicy and tender sausage patty mixed with the crispness of the pickled veggies. Absolutely superb. I have to say with all honesty this may be my favorite burger yet. If I had to choose between this banh mi burger and any other burger I have had in my life, I would choose the banh mi burger.
