It’s been announced that the world’s largest White Castle will open near Disney World next year. The hamburger and slider restaurant - which is actually generally considered to be the country’s first ever fast food chain - will open a spot in a new development called O-Town West.
The 4,500-square-foot restaurant is expected to employ around 145 people. It’s White Castle’s first location in Florida since the 1960s.
“This is going to be the world’s largest White Castle,” said Jamie Richardson, the chain’s vice president for government and shareholder relations.
The new O-Town West development near Disney World and Universal Studios will have a boardwalk, restaurants, shops, condos, and a “clear lagoon-style water body.”
According to the Orlando Sentinel, developer Chuck Whittall said he planned for ground to break on the project in about two months. “We have a lot of cool other things that we’re about to bring soon that people don’t know,” he said. “I can’t announce them yet, but we’ve got some really big announcements that are coming.”
White Castle has been operating for more than 98 years. It’s based in Columbus, Ohio and most of its restaurants are based around the Midwest and New York areas.
