Unless your knowledge of conceptual contemporary art is super on-point (yeah, us neither), you may have missed the news that’s been making waves in the art world.
Here are the cliff notes: a guy duct-taped a banana to a wall at a gallery in Miami as part of the Art Basel fair. Then priced said “artwork” at a staggering $120,000 - which an art collector actually bought, by the way. Predictably, someone ate the banana off the gallery wall.
Now Popeyes has gotten in on the art game, with a new artwork called The Sandwich. We’ll give you one guess as to what it is.
Indeed, America’s beloved chicken chain has duct taped one of its mega-popular chicken sandwiches to a wall in Miami’s San Paul Gallery.
This particular chicken sandwich will set you back $120,003.99.
According to Thrillist, Popeyes said that "a buyer has already inquired" about making a purchase.
