Yelp has launched a donate button so you can support local eateries

Yelp has teamed up with GoFundMe

1y ago

We’re all fearful for the future of our local restaurants and bars right now. But it can be difficult to know how to help.

GoFundMe and Yelp have teamed up to make supporting your local food spots that much easier. The two companies have added donation buttons so local independent businesses can quickly and easily accept donations through their Yelp pages.

GoFundMe fundraisers will automatically appear on Yelp pages for eligible restaurants and nightlife (as well as other businesses such as beauty and fitness).

When you click the button, you'll be directed to the GoFundMe page for that business, where you can donate. To be eligible, businesses must have a Yelp page and have five or fewer locations.

The Yelp Foundation and GoFundMe have also pledged to match up to $1 million in donations, with a $500 matching grant to eligible businesses that raise at least $500 on their GoFundMe.

In a blog post, Chad Richard, SVP, Business and Corporate Development at Yelp, wrote: “It’s our hope that with the funds raised through this partnership, businesses will be able to support their employees and cover immediate expenses so that they’re in a better position to continue operating through this crisis, or able to reopen their doors once we overcome it.”

  • That’s such a good initiative. I don’t think we have anything of that sort yet.
