You're more likely to get a date if you're a good cook apparently

Two-thirds of Americans are more likely to date someone who’s a good cook

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of having a delicious home-cooked meal prepared for you by a date. But just how important is it to date a real foodie?

Turns out, two-thirds of Americans are more likely to date someone who’s a good cook. According to a survey conducted by OnePoll on behalf of The Little Potato Company (a company which produces, uh, small potatoes), America’s favorite love language... is cooking.

Two in three Americans surveyed said they would be more likely to go on a first date with someone if they mentioned they’re a good cook in their dating profile. And four in five said if a first date talked about how they liked to cook they'd be much more open to a second date with them.

The survey of 2,000 Americans also found that almost two-thirds of people said they’ve tried to get better at cooking to impress a date or partner. One in three have tried to pass off store-bought food as their own cooking to impress a date.

Cooking is the best way to someone's heart, beating out flowers (24%), phone calls (22%) and presents (10%). And 86% of Americans find cooking to be an attractive trait.

And in what might be the craziest finding, 43% of Americans would *give up coffee* if it meant somebody cooked them dinner every night. (There’s pretty much nothing I would give up coffee for.)

The survey also found that cooking is important in more than just romantic relationships: more than two-thirds of respondents (70%) said cooking with their family is one of their favorite ways to spend time together.

"Cooking and food is woven into every relationship we have whether it's memories of grandparents, teaching kids about healthy eating or impressing romantic partners, and it's become even more important now that we are home together all the time," said Angela Santiago, CEO and co-founder of The Little Potato Company.

Do you agree? Are you more likely to date someone who's a good cook? 🍝🍷🍴

  • Yes, someone you can exchange ideas and experience. Someone who can cook, is able to coordinate, to plan, to make decisions- if everything else matches, a partner

  • It only applies if the other person is a terrible cook. Otherwise it gets somewhat volatile and competitive - BELIEVE ME
